A family of faith that is Christ-centered, Spirit-led, Bible-driven for the Glory of God

Feb 2010

What if you received a letter from a dear friend that was to be their final communication to you, would you cherish that letter? What if that letter contained a list of final instructions to carry on after the friend was gone; would you seriously strive to do as was instructed? This is the essence of Paul’s final letter to Timothy because soon Paul would face Nero’s executioner.  In this epistle, Paul is passing the mantle to Timothy and is urging him to persevere in strength and faithfulness. Paul wants Timothy to fully understand that he too is under divine commitment as a minister of the gospel. There are twenty-five imperative commands in this epistle. Paul wants Timothy to grasp that these are not suggestions but divinely inspired commands from an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ. However, this epistle is not merely for Timothy it is Paul’s last statement to the church and is a call for every believer to seek strength and pursue faithfulness in service to the King.
